Holika Holika Deep Pore Cleansing Soda Review

Holika Holika Deep Pore Cleansing Soda
I read mixed reviews about this product so I had to try it. This isn't a daily oil cleanser but more a blast everything out of your pores occasional use oil cleanser. I've used it for a few months so now I'm ready to chat.

The bottle is visually appealing and I like the idea of a deep clean. Because this is a deep cleansing oil rather than a standard cleansing oil the idea is to use it only on occasion instead of every day.
Purpose: To Remove makup and sunscreen as step one in a double cleaning routine. Advertised as a "deep cleansing" oil for clearing out clogged pores.
To use: Massage product into dry skin as a first cleanser  or for a deep cleaning facial massage. Emulsify with warm water before moving on to a second cleansing step.
You might like this if:
  • You like fun fragrances and cute packaging
  • You want a reasonably priced cleansing oil that isn't boring
  • You are less picky and complaint prone than I am.
You will not enjoy this if:
  • You are sensitive to fragrance or any of the ingredients
  • Runny oil cleansers annoy you
  • You are expecting huge pore cleansing results and you already have a solid pore care routine.
Ingredients from Holika Holika: Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil,Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride,Sorbeth-30 Tetraoleate,Polybutene ,Water,Hexyldecyl Myristoyl Methylaminopropionate,Butylene Glycol,Mineral Water,Propylene Glycol,Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel) Extract,Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Extract,Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil   ,Tocopheryl Acetate ,Fragrance,Phenoxyethanol,Propyl Paraben
How did my testing go?
The texture is kind of thin for something classified as deep cleansing. I found that when I wanted to use it for a slightly longer (not recommended too much rubbing can cause broken capillaries,) session I had to keep adding more oil to my face to maintain the necessary slip.
It smells like Ramune soda if you've ever tried that stuff. Sweet and faintly citrus scented I guess? I don't find the scent unpleasant but I'm also not excited about it.
I had no negative reactions to this product. It didn't clog my pores, leave my skin extra dry, and the fragrance wasn't irritating. I will finish the bottle.
Would I repurchase? No. It's cheap and it does the job but there are plenty of cheap options that don't require multiple pumps of product. I think BHA does most of the heavy lifting when it comes to making an oil cleanser more effective at loosening up clogs in the skin. This product did half its job. It removes makeup so it is a suitable first cleanser but I think calling it a deep cleanser is a bit of a stretch.

3/5 on my rating scale.

1- I want both my money and the time I spent using this product back. It should never be used and if I encounter another in my collection it goes to the trash bin.
2- The product is nothing special but not horrible. I would use it again or give it away if I got it as a free sample.
3-The product is nice enough but I would not repurchase because I have many better options. May be better suited for others
4-I really like this and would likely repurchase if I do not find something better.
5-I love this product and it has become a staple in my collection.
So now you know what the numbers mean!

Where can you find it?

I got mine from Amazon*
