Holy Snails Sheepish Lip Balm

Holy Snails Sheepish Lip BalmAs a dry person lip balm has always been a part of my life. I remember my mother pushing Burt's Bees lip balm on my super hard when she discovered it because uh..."natural". My mom now refuses to use Burt's Bee's products at all because they are owned by Clorox. She's very much more political than I am and I've started a lot of fights over my views. Between her corporate protests, my grandmother wanting anti-aging products but not wanting to use sunscreen or admit that she's on an anti aging quest starting in her 80's, and the woman I wish was my aunt who is strongly cruelty free I have an interesting time fielding product suggestion requests. Lanolin is an animal product BUT I'm not 100% on how out of the question it is for L. This lip balm makes me hope she's down.
A little more history (skip ahead if you aren't into the philosophical waxing and waning.)
I have a really long draft saved on a really cute dragon flash drive from my Accutane adventures. For those who don't know... That stuff dries out lips like crazy. My doctor actually gave me a stock of Aquaphor at every appointment. Still that wasn't enough and I hunted for the PERFECT lip balm. I explored high end brands like Nuxe, Avene, Dior, and La Roche Posay. I remember that Hourglass (makers of one of my favorite primers... I rarely use base makeup but oh man have I been primer hunting!) came out with their lip oil around that time. I was harassing Chel from Holy Snails the other day and she made me feel a lot better about not including that one in my quest. She also doesn't see anything too special on the ingredients list. Maybe now that they offer a tinted version I'll cave for the colored aspect. That's how I'm trying to justify buying Bite's Agave lip stuff again one day. From all my lip product trials I've got a solid idea of what I like. I no longer buy blind.
It's known that (at the time of posting,) Holy Snails products have never failed me. (I even made a post to hold the Chronicle of Holy Snails Reviews. Want to read about Sharksauce Perseids Oil, or Snowbang? It's here!) Would I have tried it even if the ingredient list didn't stack up to my loves list?
Yes but I wouldn't have bought multiple tubes in advance. The ingredients look pretty good to me.
Lanolin is an all-natural wax found in sheep's wool (not sheep fat!).  Its job is to waterproof and protect the sheep's wool and skin from the harsh conditions outside.  Used on its own for lips makes it feel too heavy and greasy, so we added some more nourishing ingredients to make it go on more matte and light.
0.15 oz
Ingredients:  Shea Butter (Butyrospermum Parkii), Beeswax (Cera Alba), Lanolin, Argan (Argania Spinosa Kernel) Oil, Coconut (Cocos Nucifera) Oil, Flavoring

This product does not contain any photosensitizing ingredients, but the most effective anti-aging step in your routine will always be sunscreen. Please always use (the correct amount of) sunscreen for best results in fading hyperpigmentation and anti-aging.
This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent disease. Always consult with your professional skin care provider.
I don't really care much about any of the flags in COSNA and it's a simple lip balm. I mean the whole ingredients list fits on the label in fully legible form. It is good to look over if you are super acne prone though because acne triggers around the mouth can cause acne around the mouth.
Holy Snails Sheepish Lip BalmThings that excited me:
  • Lanolin
  • Shea butter
  • Argan oil
  • Coconut Oil
  • Beeswax
Remove the beeswax and you pretty much have a whipped body butter I used to make myself. Seriously if you aren't vegan (And if you are I respect that but for your lips at this moment I am so so sorry...) this is just a stellar lineup. Emolliant, moisturizing, and just amazing. There are no fillers here. I can't wait till this comes in tints. There are rumors... Cue the Pixies song now....
The listing includes helpful notes too!
No returns or exchanges will be offered, so please consider this before purchasing.
Please note that lanolin is a fairly common allergen, and there are other ingredients in here that people may be sensitive to.  If this product causes any flaking or irritation, please discontinue use.
I've head of lanolin sensitivities before. Again if this is you I am so so sorry. Lanolin changed my life. Please share your alternatives with me. I would love to explore.

Final Rating?
I've used 2 of my 3 tubes so I think I'm qualified to give this a review. I give it a 4/5. I really really like it but I wish it were a little more pocket stable. I can't keep it in a purse for fear of cap loss and destruction but body heat makes it a little softer than I prefer. If I know I'll be out a long time I keep it in the fridge for a few hours before leaving. I don't think most people have this issue. It could be solved by a screw on cap so I can throw it in a bag worry free (which would drastically increase the price but I would pay for it because the contents are worth it...) or coming in a pot. I know people find this option less sanitary but I own multiple retractible lip brushes so I'm cool with that.
Gripes with packaging aside it does help my lips feel better when they are a little rough for the wear and protects them from hitting rock bottom (mine are known to crack and bleed.) IF I hit cracking and bleeding level I still need cortibalm to fix it but that usually means I've allowed myself to become dehydrated by working without food or water for way too long... so I probably wasn't applying any lip balms at all let along Sheepish. Asking a maintaince product to fix neglect is just crazy. Sheepish is amazing for sealing in the coribalm and alternating so I don't abuse the cortibalm (contains you guessed it... hydrocortizone which thins skin over time... yeah not for long term lip use. So I can hea; the damage and slip right into a product that helps heal and maintain health rather than causing future damage. Happy Lips!
I also find a thin layer doesn't hurt the longevity of my matte lipsticks but YMMV on that especially since my skin sucks up "greasy" creams and oils it sort of makes sense that my lips would do the same. Even if it may effect the wear time for others it shouldn't mess with application because (unless you go for a 15 mile run and leave it in your pocket... yeah that's totally the product's fault...) it's not remotely gooey.
So for a less picky packaging focused person who doesn't have lips that require a balm on hand 24 hours a day (seriously my night treatments are stashed one in my night stand, one on the bedside desk, and one in a hanging organizer above my bed...) It's probably more a 5/5 product.
Yeah I'm buying more. I'll keep buying more. I am hoping for tints. I'm also dreaming of a second lip product like... a night lip treatment to replace my Puresmile Snail Lip Treatment because I'm sorry Aritaum Ginger Sugar Overnight Lip Mask... you may be plentiful but you work as well as plain vaseline if that... and your "ginger" scent is just SO not there.
ahem! back to the topic at hand! want to try this yourself?
You can pick it up from Holy Snails.
$6.50 from Holy Snails Shop If it's out of stock DON'T panic aside from special circumstances restocks happen every Sunday so it won't be long. If you are making your first order please use my referral link to save 10% off.
In theory it will notify my if someone uses it and I really want to know if my review helped someone make a choice. If it's not your first Holy Snails purchase and you have an account on the new shop already leave me a comment and let me know. I'm always wondering if what I write leads people to make choices. Not that my words alone would make the decision but a part of a network of research and things. I don't know. Now I'm babbling. I guess I have no idea how many people are clicking the posts and how many are reading them you know.
1- I want both my money and the time I spent using this product back. It should never be used and if I encounter another in my collection it goes to the trash bin.
2- The product is nothing special but not horrible. I would use it again or give it away if I got it as a free sample.
3-The product is nice enough but I would not repurchase because I have many better options. May be better suited for others
4-I really like this and would likely repurchase if I do not find something better.
5-I love this product and it has become a staple in my collection.

Holy Snails Perseids Oil

I've had a thing for oils for most of my life. I've also been a collector of pretty tiny bottles since childhood. My bottle collection is small (no pun intended as I do mean quantity...) Because I'm picky about my pretty bottles and have limited space. But this bottle holds a product made by Chel the maker of my beloved Shark Sauce which I also wrote about if you want to see how I felt there. Spolier alert: It made this pretty bottle bumped ahead of the planned testing wishlisst over the much lusted after Blossom Jeju magic... It also skipped the review posting line ahead of the Goodal Waterest Lasting Oil and Banila Co Miss Flower & My. Honey Essence Oil both of which I have repurchased. Those drafts will be dusted off soon enough but today let's focus on WHY the slipped behind in line. Meet Holy Snails Perseids Oil Guys.
Photo credit: Holy Snails Store Envy.
Also adding Chel's description first because she has a way with words like she has a way with making awesome stuff. I made her word's purple to distinguish them for my own. I don't want to steal credit for her copy but honestly I think that the detail she put into the description really highlights how much she cares about the products. She warns to patch test, warns that it isn't a miracle or a substitute for medical treatment for a skin condition, and gives multiple ways to use the product. My notes on each section are in black.
DESCRIPTION
Perseids Oil is a facial oil blend rich in antioxidants and the perfect defense for your skin this winter. Aside from the many delicious fruit and nut oils, it also includes Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Bisabolol (anti-irritant/anti-inflammatory), and Squalane (prevents TEWL, emollient).
OK now check out how clear cut her description of the product is spelled out. Notice she doesn't claim the oil is going to magically make you younger or give you miracle K-Pop star skin. The word rich caught my eye as well as the idea of  a defensive measure for winter skin. I'm pretty much a lizard. My all year skin is winter skin. Oh and Squalane happens to make me squeal with delight when I see it as a featured ingredient. Speaking of those... Chel also has the contents of her product clearly listed below the description in full (not just "key ingredients."  It also isn't in hidden super tiny print so you hopefully won't notice and bother to read it.  I've copied that below.
Ingredients: Avocado Oil, Meadowfoam Oil, Rice Bran Oil, Jojoba Oil, Abyssinian Oil, Evening Primrose Oil, Macademia Nut Oil, Castor Oil, Squalane, Borage Seed Oil, Blackberry Seed Oil, Blueberry Seed Oil, Cranberry Seed Oil, Kiwi Seed Oil, Pomegranate Seed Oil, Red Raspberry Seed Oil, Rosehip Oil, Sea Buckthorn Berry Oil, Argan Oil, Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Sea Buckthorn Seed Oil, Bisabolol, Rosemary Oleoresin Extract
Well WOW. I can see why the list isn't hidden. I was sold at Squalane but I was also very excited to see some of my OTHER favorite oils in the blend.
  • Avocado Oil this is something I always keep a small bottle of on hand (to avoid spoilage I don't buy in bulk because I REALLY love oils.) It's super moisturizing.
  • Meadow foam Oil I love enough to buy in larger bottles. I have been using it for years. It moisturizes but also absorbs super well on my skin without feeling greasy. It isn't exactly a "dry oil" in my opinion but it is great stuff.
  • Sea Buckthorn Seed Oil is yet another that I keep on hand. Just a little bit... kind of like this product actually.
  • A slew of other interesting (added for value and not senseless hype,) oils. Some of those may appeal to others even more than the ones I picked. We oil lovers all have our faves.
So I checked out COSDNA  and a few of the ingredients are flagged as acne triggers. Not alll oils work  for everyone. Avocado oil for example was flagged at level 2 for acne while for me it's just magic. Avoid this product if you have sensitivities to any of the oils included. If you don't... I say go for it man! Just remember to patch test.
How to use: This can be used on its own in place of or in addition to your favorite moisturizer. You can also add a drop or two into a serum, cream, or foundation.
Chel forgot to mention that this works great under a sheet mask. I tried this recently with a mask because I honestly sometimes just decide to sheet mask when I have already put on oil in the morning... and I read somewhere else that someone did it intentionally. Then I was chatting with a friend who tried the Mediheal  Cacao Ade Mask which I pretty much trashed. I have dry skin and the mask left residue on my face. I blamed the mask. I mean my skin is dry so it should suck that essence up right? Well my oily skinned friend said that she LOVED the mask and that her skin drank the essence like the magical nectar it was intended to provide...(the flowery over the top language is mine by the way she just let me know she liked it better than I did.
That just made something click in my head. Maybe the mask wasn't the problem in that particular case. Maybe... having more oil content to my skin could boost the mask. I didn't have another of that one on hand but I have since slipped a little Perseids under masks advertised as for oiler folks (and other masks too...) It's awesome. If I come across another of the mask I trashed above I will see if this oil can help it work for me too.
I am personally too dry to use this oil in place of moisturizer for... the entire day or something. It's not going to replace a cream for me. But if you aren't a lizard type like myself than it might work that way for you. This is a very moisturizing oil. A little goes a long way.
img_0384here's a photo of WAY more than you need to use to show off the color...
I mix it into cream or just slap a little on my face pretty regularly. I haven't mixed it into foundation as of yet because I am often to lazy to wear it... but I assume this would work better with certain blends of foundation? Also please not that she isn't telling you to premix up a bottle or jar of another product and throw off the preservatives... This is a mix a little in your hand/on a clean surface before use type deal.
Suitable for: All skin types.
Um... I only have one skin type so I can't firmly comment on this but since it (like many oils,) can be used in many ways I can see how it would work for a range of skin types.
Warnings: Please always patch test new products. This product does not cause purging, so if you experience breakouts or irritation, please discontinue use.
Hey, I said it earlier but she did too! I also love that she mentions that this isn't a purge causing product. A lot of people believe the "worse before it gets better," myth and don't realize that only products of a certain type and formulation actually do result in purging. This isn't an exfoliant folks so if you start breaking out... I'm so sorry that means you can't share my love. More for ME!
This product does not contain any photosensitizing ingredients, but the most effective anti-aging step in your routine will always be sunscreen. Please always use (the correct amount of) sunscreen for best results in fading hyperpigmentation.
Notes: This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent disease. Always consult with your professional skin care provider. It does NOT have any fragrances, so there will be a slight smell. No returns or exchanges will be offered, so please consider this before purchasing.
AND a callout for sunscreen? I love the description as much as the product itself. This woman is an artist. She carefully tests her products and tweaks them before releasing (currently dying for El Dorado among other future goodies to come out... hint hint *pouts and looks for a release date*
My final rating...
5/5... again. Chel please release something I don't like. I really enjoy ranting. This is now my go to "thicker oil blend" product. I 100% plan to repurchase. It shall join the ranks of my pure Meadowfoam, Avocado, Sea Buckthorn Seed, Neem, coconut... and I'll just stop because I sound like an oil hoarder. It's great stuff. You should try it out.
So now you know what the numbers mean!
Where is this magic available?
Full size 30ml SUPER pretty bottle for $30 from Holy Snails Store Envy Shop.  OR if you just want to dip your toes in cautiously there is also a sample size available. It's 5ml for $7 and adorably named Shooting Star. Don't panic if she's out. The shop restocks Sunday's at 6pm central barring strange circumstances. Chel also gives a heads up if a restock is delayed... or if something new is coming on her Shop's Facebook Page. Chel also happens to be great about answering questions pretty quickly if you message her there.
If you have never purchased from Holy Snails Shop feel free to use my referral link for 10% off!
Do you like facial oils?
Have any you think I should try? Or any you want to read about? I have the two I mentioned earlier in my drafts and I'm in the testing phase with Manyo Factory Ultra Moist Radiance Oil. (editL complete review actually long overdue...)After that one I'll be testing(edit: complete: uh...maybe I'll post about it...) Whamisa Organic Flowers Facial Oil because I grumpily enjoyed their masks despite my hopes of hating them.
Perseids has earned a permanent spot in my life...but I have room for more than one oil blend in my heart. If you've got an idea or want to read my take on an oil shoot me a comment.

It's Here! My Rave Review of Shark Sauce

For months I read about Shark Sauce on r/asianbeauty. It was created by the talented Chel from Holy Snails and inspired by Fiddy from Fifty Shades of Snail. This stuff is packed with yummy ingredients that I seek in products all in one bottle. When the co-op launched I tried each month but never managed to snag a bottle.
But then (possibly because the Internet pressured her into it... Sorry not sorry Chel,) A shop was opened! Even there the stuff sells out super fast but I got my hands on some. I've been using it for months and this review is SO late but I'm finally ready. I'll tell you why I love it, how to get it, and give a little preview of things to come.
I'm going to start out with a picture of the cute little bottle because hey packaging is fun!

alt.holysnailssharksauce
photo taken from Holy Snails Store Envy Page
Chel was kind enough to let me use her shop photo. I'm going to show my bottle in action but I wanted to showcase how it looks new. I didn't want people judging the product based on the ratty condition of my bottle.
Why is my personal bottle so ugly?
This is actually one of the perks of the product. The plastic squeeze bottle with a nice screw on cap makes this bottle super portable. My bottle has been thrown in my purse, work bag, and survived a gym bag spill incident (no the Shark Sauce was not the leak culprit.)
For a limited time Shark Sauce was also offered in a fancy bottle. I keep that one at home. Owning two bottles of yeh same product might sound excessive but I really like to have it with me at all times AND I like to feel fancy. Once I get in to the ways I use the stuff you will see that despite having a usual ban on back up products this is an exception. Chel if you read this... Know that I would be ALL OVER a jumbo option.
So what is this stuff anyway?
I'm going to borrow from the Holy Snails page again because honestly who would describe the product better than the creator?
Description
Shark Sauce **does not** contain sharks, shark extract, or shark wings. Its name comes from one of my muses, Jude, of Fifty Shades of Snail (www.fiftyshadesofsnail.com).
Shark Sauce is a hydrating serum that features 5% Niacinamide (Vitamin B3) and 3% N-Acetyl Glucosamine, which are ideal for fighting hyperpigmentation.
It has supporting extracts like licorice root (brightening), green tea (anti-inflammatory), and sea kelp bioferment (hydrating) as well as hyaluronic acid and sodium lactate for additional hydration.
Ingredients: (Distilled Water, Glycerin, Hyaluronic Acid), Sea Kelp Bioferment, Niacinamide, Licorice Root Extract,
N-Acetylglucosamine, Sodium Lactate, Panthenol, Green Tea Extract, (Propylene Glycol, Diazolidinyl Urea, Methylparaben, Propylparaben), Disodium EDTA
How to Use: Apply several drops to cleansed face. Follow with moisturizer.
Suitable for: All skin types.
So how do I use the product?
Honestly I want to bath in this stuff. I think the product instructions really undersell the product here. I do apply this to my face before moisturizer after my active wait time. I also use it under my sheet masks to boost them a little. I've slathered this on patches of PIH all over my body and it works every time.
Want to see my bare skin during my "time of the month," many weeks into using Shark Sauce?
alt.holysnailsharksaucereview
I haven't been taking the best case of myself and that extends to my skin but I reached for the Shark Sauce on even my most minimal routine days. This might not be as dramatic as massive before and after photos but I think it shows the effects. Monthly spots usually leave me with PIH well into the next month.
No flash, day light bulbs in use... I'm not a professional photographer OK?
I used to DIY my own things to fight my seemingly never ending battle with PIH but I had a kind of "kill it with fire," approach and I always had to seriously compensate with moisturizing steps to keep myself from frying my skin.
With Shark Sauce Chel has worked magic to make the marks fade fast with a gentle formula. My skin condition actually feels better with Shark Sauce in the mix all skin tone brightening properties aside.
How does it stack up?
5/5 on my rating scale. I've already repurchased.
Want your own bottle?
As I mentioned earlier Chel has opened a shop to sell her growing line of amazing products. I haven't found a miss amount her line yet. Stay tuned for more reviews of things I love from her shop snd check it out for yourself.
Update: New Shop! 30 mls for $29 or Try it first 5mls for $7.

Review: Banila co Miss Flowers & Mr. Honey Hydrogel Mask

Banila co Miss Flowers & Mr. Honey Hydrogel Mask

This mask is much hyped and I get caught up ini hype like anyone else. I had to try this mask. I even tried it more than once because I wanted to enjoy it...  I also tried the Oil, and the cream... and despite my feelings so far I'm going to try that toner some day too I'm sure.

I mean just look at that packaging!

And the back even shows you how to open up the mask before putting it on. It's got to be impossible to fail right?

Banila co Miss Flowers & Mr. Honey Hydrogel Mask

Well the ingredients are not in English but COSDNA came through for me.

This mask for all the love has a bunch of red flags man! Carrageenan is a levek 5 acne trigger and a level 2 irritant. Castor Oil, Butylene Glycol, Calendula, and Chamomile all pop up as love level irritants. Avoid this mask if you have sensitivities to those things. Man I never would have considered chamomile as a potential irritant. I always think of it as calming but then again that’s in tea which is consumed orally not topically.
Among the beneficial ingredients we have Niacinamide, Propolis, and Royal Jelly. Propolis and Royal Jelly are so far down the list though that I’m not sure they do much here.

How did it go?

Banila co Miss Flowers & Mr. Honey Hydrogel MaskThen of course I put it on my face.

It has a pretty gold sheen and no strong scent. a two piece hydro gel mask. I've found many winners in this type of mask. Perhaps I have set my standards too high but I did not love this mask. The backing is a mesh that gets itchy as the mask dries down. Not for me man.
I showed off my issues on Instagram but in case you don't follow me there I can show you again! Can you believe I used to be camera shy?

Banila co Miss Flowers & Mr. Honey Hydrogel Mask
So this mask was not a winner for me. It slipped, slid, and got itchy. Bonus points for the lightening ingredients but I get plenty of that from other products man!
Would I buy it again?
No. I really really wouldn't.

Final Score?

2/5 on the scale. I don't like it. Sorry.

Dear By Enprani Moistful Booskin (or the product I enjoy enough to forgive the name.)

Dear By Enprani Moistful Booskin
This product is pretty well known already (and I think most people who read blogs know why...) But despite using it a long time it took me a while to review. Part of the reason I guess is that what I'm going to say is mostly out there already. But I have other hydrating toners and I want a detailed basis for comparison to link to so I'm writing this anyway. I'm sorry if you are bored!
This product is a hydrating toner. You can't tell that from the name... well maybe I guess because it says "moist full" Man the name drives me crazy. I'm one of those people who will ask for "chicken wings" in a restaurant instead of whatever crazy super individual name the restaurant cooked up to make it seem more interesting. On the subject of chicken wings if you are a fan of buffalo wings don't order them in California. Buffalo sauce is more than tabasco and vinegar and blue cheese dressing should not at all resemble ranch. Both the sauce and dressing should be made fresh in house. The wings should be cooked so that the skin is crispy and the inside is tender. Breading... is unnecessary. When I order in California I just pick a different flavor and ask for them "very well done." When I bite into a wing I want to be thinking about how good it tastes not consciously thinking that I have chicken skin in my mouth (and I love chicken skin, if you are looking to cut calories man... skip something else.)
But I suppose no one is here for my amateur food critic "only NY can do some things right," ranting huh? You want to hear about human skin not chicken skin. I understand. I will proceed.
So aren't toners supposed to clear off excess left behind by cleansers?
Well in the Asian beauty world with the magic of double cleansing a toner doesn't really need to remove anything. Hydrating toners are meant to add moisture to the skin and in some cases (like this one,) help other products absorb better.
According to memebox.com "When your skin is lacking in moisture your are more prone to premature aging. Prevent early signs of aging with Dear by Enprani Moistfull Booskin. This toner has a rich blend of hyaluronic acid and premium green collagen which effectively delivers moisture deep into the layers of skin. It provides twice the amount of intensive hydration to the skin to revel a more supple, firm texture. It is also specially formulated to supply long-lasting moisture and nourishment to keep the skin healthy and radiant

My take?

I love hyaluronic acid but I'm skeptical that topically applied collagen does anything. Also... premium green? I don't even know what that means. The part about giving skin a more supple, firm texture to keep it healthy and radiant is exactly what I'm after in a hydrating toner. I give that part a huge thumbs up. I'm a very heavy actives user with dry skin. I need all the moisture I can get.

How to use

Again memebox helps out "After cleansing your skin, pour an appropriate amount of the toner to a cotton pad. Gently wipe all over the face in circular motions and pat gently to allow better absorption."
My take?
I skip the cotton pad. This toner has a thicker texture so I just use my hands to apply. I think I would be wasting precious toner and cotton pads (I'm serious about my cotton OK?) I don't really think circular motions are necessary either (to each their own.) I just kind of smear it on my face, neck, and upper chest area. I skip the patting too. It soaks in just fine on it's own. Feel free to pat pat pat if you like though. It doesn't hurt and I've hard people find it fun.
So what's in it?
Purified Water, Glycereth-7, Glycereth-26, Butylene Glycol, Dioscorea Japonica Root Extract, Sodium PCA, Beta Glukan, Hydrolyzed Corn Starch, Sucrose, Allantoin, Bis-Peg-18 Methyl Ether Dimethyl Silane, PPG-26-Buteth-26, PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Glycerin, Anastatica Hierochuntica Extract, Caulerpa Lentillifera Extract, Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel) Leaf Extract, Propylene Glycol, Ethylhexyl Stearate, Sodium Hyaluronate Crosspolymer, Mineral Water, Rose Flower Oil, Geranium Oil, Iris Germanica Root Extract, Jasmine Extract, Sandalwood Oil, Atlas Credarwood Oil, Lemongrass Oil, Anthemis Nobilis Flower Oil, Ylang Ylang Flower Oil, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Oil, Cinnamomum Camphora Bark Oil, Dipropylene Glycol PolyGlyceryl-4 Diisostearate/Poly Hydroxystearate/ Sebacate, Sodium Isostearate, Ethanol, Disodium EDTA, 1,2-Hexanediol, Phenoxyethanol, Caprylyl Glycol, Caprylhydroxamic Acid
My take?
Based on the ingredients list alone I really should not be all that excited about this product.
Note: COSDNA is not infallible and you know your skin better than a website. Remember to patch test, introduce slowly, and skip this if you see something on the list you know bothers your skin.
How did it go for me?
I love it! The texture is thicker than water but not quite get. It feels smooth and slippery on my hands and then the rest of my skin as I pat it on. I'm told this smells like roses. Even... strongly like roses. I guess maybe because I've used the Mamonde Rose Water toner and my grandmother grew many kinds of roses at once when I was a kid I need a little more rose scent to feel slapped in the face. I just think it smells pleasant in a mild, calming, possibly floral kind of way. hen I've dried myself out like a prune.
It really does skin in fast enough to skip the patting and when I use this my products do soak in noticeably faster. It's part of my skin recovery kit w
Final Verdict?
I give this one 5/5. I'm glad I tried it even though the name is weird and the ingredient list didn't make me jump for joy. I've kept it on hand through other product testing and I keep coming back to it. Even if I find something more amazing, the price (plus frequent sales,) accessibility, and knowledge that if all else fails this one works are enough to keep me coming back. I'm not the type to have a massive panic over a discontinued product but... I would miss this one. I don't exactly have a replacement lined up at the moment. It's just a super product all on it's own.

Holy Snails is an Asian Beauty inspired Indie Skincare shop that was essentially started by peer pressure. A super knowledgeable woman named Chel was doing what many of us skincare fanatics do and dipping into the DIY world. In chatting with a fellow blogger the inspiration for the first product Shark Sauce was born. The product is named for the Reddit username of popular blogger Fiftyshades of Snail.
This product got people talking. The results were everything requested and more. Small batches were made for friends but word traveled and EVERYONE (myself included,) wanted to get their grubby hands on some Shark Sauce. Chel posted her recipes on her blog but DIY skincare takes time, money, and careful measurement. People demanded a ready made product. A group was born with sign up sheets for bottles. I kept getting beaten by the clock. I'm among the few people in my age group I know who spends large portions of the day not  connected to an internet source. Blame a small data plan and not having a desk job... believe me it is NOT by choice. Anyway over time the demand reached such extreme heights that a shop was born!
Thank you so much Chel for caving. The shop opened and then the led to a new and improved shop with a points system and all sorts of new goodies.
