Holy Snails Perseids Oil

I've had a thing for oils for most of my life. I've also been a collector of pretty tiny bottles since childhood. My bottle collection is small (no pun intended as I do mean quantity...) Because I'm picky about my pretty bottles and have limited space. But this bottle holds a product made by Chel the maker of my beloved Shark Sauce which I also wrote about if you want to see how I felt there. Spolier alert: It made this pretty bottle bumped ahead of the planned testing wishlisst over the much lusted after Blossom Jeju magic... It also skipped the review posting line ahead of the Goodal Waterest Lasting Oil and Banila Co Miss Flower & My. Honey Essence Oil both of which I have repurchased. Those drafts will be dusted off soon enough but today let's focus on WHY the slipped behind in line. Meet Holy Snails Perseids Oil Guys.

Also adding Chel's description first because she has a way with words like she has a way with making awesome stuff. I made her word's purple to distinguish them for my own. I don't want to steal credit for her copy but honestly I think that the detail she put into the description really highlights how much she cares about the products. She warns to patch test, warns that it isn't a miracle or a substitute for medical treatment for a skin condition, and gives multiple ways to use the product. My notes on each section are in black.
Perseids Oil is a facial oil blend rich in antioxidants and the perfect defense for your skin this winter. Aside from the many delicious fruit and nut oils, it also includes Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Bisabolol (anti-irritant/anti-inflammatory), and Squalane (prevents TEWL, emollient).
OK now check out how clear cut her description of the product is spelled out. Notice she doesn't claim the oil is going to magically make you younger or give you miracle K-Pop star skin. The word rich caught my eye as well as the idea of  a defensive measure for winter skin. I'm pretty much a lizard. My all year skin is winter skin. Oh and Squalane happens to make me squeal with delight when I see it as a featured ingredient. Speaking of those... Chel also has the contents of her product clearly listed below the description in full (not just "key ingredients."  It also isn't in hidden super tiny print so you hopefully won't notice and bother to read it.  I've copied that below.
Ingredients: Avocado Oil, Meadowfoam Oil, Rice Bran Oil, Jojoba Oil, Abyssinian Oil, Evening Primrose Oil, Macademia Nut Oil, Castor Oil, Squalane, Borage Seed Oil, Blackberry Seed Oil, Blueberry Seed Oil, Cranberry Seed Oil, Kiwi Seed Oil, Pomegranate Seed Oil, Red Raspberry Seed Oil, Rosehip Oil, Sea Buckthorn Berry Oil, Argan Oil, Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Sea Buckthorn Seed Oil, Bisabolol, Rosemary Oleoresin Extract
Well WOW. I can see why the list isn't hidden. I was sold at Squalane but I was also very excited to see some of my OTHER favorite oils in the blend.
  • Avocado Oil this is something I always keep a small bottle of on hand (to avoid spoilage I don't buy in bulk because I REALLY love oils.) It's super moisturizing.
  • Meadow foam Oil I love enough to buy in larger bottles. I have been using it for years. It moisturizes but also absorbs super well on my skin without feeling greasy. It isn't exactly a "dry oil" in my opinion but it is great stuff.
  • Sea Buckthorn Seed Oil is yet another that I keep on hand. Just a little bit... kind of like this product actually.
  • A slew of other interesting (added for value and not senseless hype,) oils. Some of those may appeal to others even more than the ones I picked. We oil lovers all have our faves.
So I checked out COSDNA  and a few of the ingredients are flagged as acne triggers. Not alll oils work  for everyone. Avocado oil for example was flagged at level 2 for acne while for me it's just magic. Avoid this product if you have sensitivities to any of the oils included. If you don't... I say go for it man! Just remember to patch test.
How to use: This can be used on its own in place of or in addition to your favorite moisturizer. You can also add a drop or two into a serum, cream, or foundation.
Chel forgot to mention that this works great under a sheet mask. I tried this recently with a mask because I honestly sometimes just decide to sheet mask when I have already put on oil in the morning... and I read somewhere else that someone did it intentionally. Then I was chatting with a friend who tried the Mediheal  Cacao Ade Mask which I pretty much trashed. I have dry skin and the mask left residue on my face. I blamed the mask. I mean my skin is dry so it should suck that essence up right? Well my oily skinned friend said that she LOVED the mask and that her skin drank the essence like the magical nectar it was intended to provide...(the flowery over the top language is mine by the way she just let me know she liked it better than I did.
That just made something click in my head. Maybe the mask wasn't the problem in that particular case. Maybe... having more oil content to my skin could boost the mask. I didn't have another of that one on hand but I have since slipped a little Perseids under masks advertised as for oiler folks (and other masks too...) It's awesome. If I come across another of the mask I trashed above I will see if this oil can help it work for me too.
I am personally too dry to use this oil in place of moisturizer for... the entire day or something. It's not going to replace a cream for me. But if you aren't a lizard type like myself than it might work that way for you. This is a very moisturizing oil. A little goes a long way.
img_0384here's a photo of WAY more than you need to use to show off the color...
I mix it into cream or just slap a little on my face pretty regularly. I haven't mixed it into foundation as of yet because I am often to lazy to wear it... but I assume this would work better with certain blends of foundation? Also please not that she isn't telling you to premix up a bottle or jar of another product and throw off the preservatives... This is a mix a little in your hand/on a clean surface before use type deal.
Suitable for: All skin types.
Um... I only have one skin type so I can't firmly comment on this but since it (like many oils,) can be used in many ways I can see how it would work for a range of skin types.
Warnings: Please always patch test new products. This product does not cause purging, so if you experience breakouts or irritation, please discontinue use.
Hey, I said it earlier but she did too! I also love that she mentions that this isn't a purge causing product. A lot of people believe the "worse before it gets better," myth and don't realize that only products of a certain type and formulation actually do result in purging. This isn't an exfoliant folks so if you start breaking out... I'm so sorry that means you can't share my love. More for ME!
This product does not contain any photosensitizing ingredients, but the most effective anti-aging step in your routine will always be sunscreen. Please always use (the correct amount of) sunscreen for best results in fading hyperpigmentation.
Notes: This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent disease. Always consult with your professional skin care provider. It does NOT have any fragrances, so there will be a slight smell. No returns or exchanges will be offered, so please consider this before purchasing.
AND a callout for sunscreen? I love the description as much as the product itself. This woman is an artist. She carefully tests her products and tweaks them before releasing (currently dying for El Dorado among other future goodies to come out... hint hint *pouts and looks for a release date*
My final rating...
5/5... again. Chel please release something I don't like. I really enjoy ranting. This is now my go to "thicker oil blend" product. I 100% plan to repurchase. It shall join the ranks of my pure Meadowfoam, Avocado, Sea Buckthorn Seed, Neem, coconut... and I'll just stop because I sound like an oil hoarder. It's great stuff. You should try it out.
1- I want both my money and the time I spent using this product back. It should never be used and if I encounter another in my collection it goes to the trash bin.
2- The product is nothing special but not horrible. I would use it again or give it away if I got it as a free sample.
3-The product is nice enough but I would not repurchase because I have many better options. May be better suited for others
4-I really like this and would likely repurchase if I do not find something better.
5-I love this product and it has become a staple in my collection.
So now you know what the numbers mean!
Where is this magic available?
Full size 30ml SUPER pretty bottle for $30 from Holy Snails Store Envy Shop.  OR if you just want to dip your toes in cautiously there is also a sample size available. It's 5ml for $7 and adorably named Shooting Star. Don't panic if she's out. The shop restocks Sunday's at 6pm central barring strange circumstances. Chel also gives a heads up if a restock is delayed... or if something new is coming on her Shop's Facebook Page. Chel also happens to be great about answering questions pretty quickly if you message her there.
If you have never purchased from Holy Snails Shop feel free to use my referral link for 10% off!
Do you like facial oils?
Have any you think I should try? Or any you want to read about? I have the two I mentioned earlier in my drafts and I'm in the testing phase with Manyo Factory Ultra Moist Radiance Oil. (editL complete review actually long overdue...)After that one I'll be testing(edit: complete: uh...maybe I'll post about it...) Whamisa Organic Flowers Facial Oil because I grumpily enjoyed their masks despite my hopes of hating them.
Perseids has earned a permanent spot in my life...but I have room for more than one oil blend in my heart. If you've got an idea or want to read my take on an oil shoot me a comment.
