Mediheal Cacao Ade Mask

This mask appealed to me because of the package. I'll admit straight out that I like the idea of my skin drinking in nutrients (not really how things work,) and I had wanted to get some of this variety so when it showed up in my Mask Maven Monthly sub I was really excited.

 The back
the mask is meant to be purifying and leave the skin soft according to the packaging. The mask has a cool pattern you can kind of see it in my photo with flash.

I think it has a faint cleanser scent to it but not much else.
Results?
This mask made my face sticky. That's pretty much it. I don't even know why exactly this called for an entire post but hey it was in my drafts so I figured I might as well finish it up!
I actually had to wash my face after using this mask because the residue would not absorb and it was really uncomfortable. Remember... my skin sucks up loads of moisture even in summer.  I've enjoyed Mediheal brand masks in the past but this one was not a winner.
1/5 on my rating scale... I wouldn't use this mask again and I wouldn't even give it away. That would just feel mean. I don't know that it's the worst mask  I've ever tried but lets just say it makes the list.
Has anyone else tried this mask? Better experiences? Want to  join my rant party?

Let me know in the comments!

Final Rating

1. I want the time I spent using this product back. It should never be used and if I encounter another in my collection it goes to the
 trash bin.
2- The product is nothing special but not horrible. I would use it again or give it away if I got it as a free sample.
3-The product is nice enough but I would not repurchase because I have many better options. May be better suited for others
4-I really like this and would likely repurchase if I do not find something better.
5-I love this product and it has become a staple in my collection.

Mediheal Dresscode Red

I like the whole masqueade theme. It's neat. I have and will have reviews up soon of all four colors. I've used three. The red is Ginseng based.

MEMBOX gave me an awesome product description to use!
"This unique face mask is not only fun to use but is also highly beneficial for the skin. It is multifunctional as it delivers abundant nutrients to the skin for it to achieve optimum results. Mediheal’s Dress Code Mask in Red (Ginseng Care) is the answer for weak, damaged skin. This mask particularly features Red Ginseng as its main ingredient which helps the skin develop stronger cells. This also functions as an anti-aging agent as it decreases the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines."
Ohh a ginseng mask. I have a few but I needed to be brave to try a second. Per MEMEBOX the ingredients are: Purified Water, Trehalose, Betaine, Red Ginseng, Fig Extract, Mulberry Extract, Gingko Biloba Extract Pretty sure they are just picking out the stars here. Looks like I'll be adding this to COSDNA my self! ...and I'll update when I do. I actually intended to do this right away but I signed up for an account and I can't seem to open the verification email. I guess I could create a second account?

I don't know what to say.

I guess? My friend Nephty over at CanIPutItInMyLungs likes the way it looks. Small gripe but I would prefer a darker red. I know I'm so shallow!
Well at least someone liked it!

Want to try it yourself?
It's available from MEMEBOX*  for $2 a mask if making your first purchase from Memebox feel free to use my referral link for 20% off $20 or more.
It did tingle just a little bit so I suppose there is really a ginseng element to the mask.   Meh. I liked the blue one better. 2/5 on the rating scale.

Mediheal Dress Code Blue

What it is?
This unique face mask is not only fun to use but is also highly beneficial for the skin. It is multifunctional as it delivers abundant nutrients to the skin for it to achieve optimum results. Mediheal’s Dress Code Mask in Blue (Aqua Care) is a highly moisturizing mask to perfectly supply hydration to dry and rough skin. This contains hyaluronic acid, lavender extract, and rosemary extract which are premium ingredients that have numerous vitamins that are beneficial to the skin. Get smoother and softer skin by making sure your skin is properly hydrated with Mediheal’s Dress Code Mask in Blue!
-Description from Memebox

Rants and Rambles:
Dry rough skin is often a perfect description for my face. This mask is also really pretty. Are there lots of other mask that hydrate? Of course but they don't all look this cool.
The back of the packaging lists ingredients and rough instructions for use. Most of the package is not in English but I don't need a textbook to use a sheet mask.

Here is is on my face!

The Mediheal Dress Code Blue Mask is one of the prettier masks I have tried. I don't look silly wearing it.  OK not that silly compared to other masks...
Would I repurchase?
When I run through a bigger portion of my mask supply I would totally consider a purchase of this mask. It's nice to feel a little fancier in my skincare routine and this fit is better than most masks. The effects aren't mind blowing but this is a sheet mask not a professional chemical peel. I rate this 4/5.

Manyo Factory Ultra Moist Radiance Oil

 alt.ManyofactoryultramoistradianceoilWhat's the idea?

"Get naturally glowing skin with Manyo Factory's Ultra Moist Radiance Oil. Moisturize, repair, and soften your skin with a combination of over ten different kinds of oils. This is a multi-purpose oil that can help add moisture to your dry skin, cuticles, hair, and other dry skin patches on the heels of your feet or your elbows.
  • Made with shea butter, argan oil and squalene to help soften and moisturize your skin
  • Mix with foundation or BB cream for smooth, glowing finish
  • Indulge in a little aromatherapy with the light scent of citrus
Made without parabens, artificial dyes, or mineral oil."-melodycosme
I'm a sucker for shea butter, argan oil, and squalene. I've said this before. Reading this description makes me a little paranoid. Are they STALKING ME?
I also love mixing things into BB cream or foundation if I go that route. I'm usually way too lazy for base makeup man but if I'm going for the flawless doll look and I want something more long wearing than say... a cushion foundation then this is what I'll do to keep the long wear without looking cake-y. I have dry skin but I work manual labor (in stilettos man.) It's rare that I bother with the base makeup but for the sake of though testing I DID mix some of this in to my MAC can't recall the name but it looks amazing till I dry out like a lizard foundation. No lizard skin occurred. Score!
As for the aromatherapy I have to mention that I get migraines and this is very lightly fragranced. Even after long days with no sleep in prime migraine ready condition this fragrance triggered nothing. It's not a Body Shop punch in the face citrus. We aren't walking into Yankee Candle and it does NOT smell like Lemon Pledge or that lovely orange Goo Gone. It kind of reminds me of a Yuzu perfume I once owned. Like the way it smelled after it had been on a good portion of the day and was fading. It was a light "hug the skin" perfume. The smell also disappears seconds after application unless you like... bath in it. I totally want to but... budget man!
and... I actually LIKE parabens.
"DirectionsUse 1: Use after cleansing and toning by itselfUse 2: Mix in with foundation or BB cream for radiant skin and a smooth finish.Use 3: Mix 1-2 drops with moisturizer extra moisture and for a natural glow!"-melodycosme"
As I said I'm 100% guilty of all three here. 1& 3 most of all
Volume  50 ml

If I didn't collect facial oils like trading cards I could probably run through multiple bottles of this pretty quickly. 50ml is a big facial oil honestly because you only need a little. With facial oils... I have no loyalty.

What's in this magic bottle?

Ingredients: Squalane, Isoamyl Laurate, Oenothera Biennis (Evening Primrose) Oil, Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil, Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil, Corylus Avellana (Hazel) Seed Oil, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Limnanthes Alba (Meadowfoam) Seed Oil, Brassica Oleracea Italica (Broccoli) Seed Oil, Citrus Reticulata (Tangerine) Peel Oil, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Oil, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Oil, Citrus Nobilis (Mandarin Orange) Oil, Citrus Aurantium Bergamia (Bergamot) Fruit Oil, Elaeis Guineensis (Palm) Oil, Tocopherol, Citrus Unshiu Fruit Oil.

I am oh so proud. Added this to COSDNA myself. I'm a big girl now! COSDNA for the curious folks.  I made the acne triggers red and underlined potential irritants. But don't panic guys. These are all POTENTIAL triggers so if you haven't had issues with them in the past this isn't a guaranteed breakout in a  bottle. Patch test as always

Things that make me squeal:

Squalane: emollient antioxidant... never met a squalene product I didn't like. Find me one please.
Avocado Oil: Yeah I slather this all over my body. It is rich and deeply moisturizing. I can tell it's not too high in the ingredients here because this stuff doesn't feel remotely heavy and Avocado oil... kinda is... in the best way. It is super moisturizing and said to "regenerate" the skin. More on that later.

Also for those who care about animals:

"The product DOES NOT contain synthetic components, triethanolamine, parabens, propylene glycol, animal derived materials."-manyofactory

Meadowfoam Seed Oil: My favorite daily super moisturizing but soaks in easy star of all stars oil. I'm in love. Just so in love.  I use this plain.

Broccoli oil: OK not squealing. I hate broccoli but someone asked on another post about more background on other oils and this one is actually a good one that is ofter overlooked. Broccoli oil is used in skin and hair products to add shine and glow. I like glow? Who doesn't! It's also used as a silicone alternative in some products. So love the effects of silicone until you suffer that after effects if you are among the group of poor silicone sensitive souls? It may be possible to have your cake and eat it too with a little broccoli oil.
check out Garden of Wisdom for PAGES of information on not only oils but other skincare components too! And... When I pouted that I had no pet name oh ten or so years back in my youth my ex decided I could be his "little broccoli" so there's that.

How did it go?

Oh I really like it. I can even forgive the citrus scent for how light yet moisturizing it is on my skin. The scent doesn't really linger anyway. It's a pleasure to use!

Final Rating

4/5  I really like it and if new and exciting facial oils that I just have to slap on my face stop coming out I would use this regularly. I just can't call it 100% a staple in my collection while I'm still out cheating on it with other oils. Well not cheating. We definitely have an open relationship.

1- I want both my money and the time I spent using this product back. It should never be used and if I encounter another in my collection it goes to the trash bin.
So now you know what the numbers mean!

Musings: Why I Decided to Make My Reviews Public (published a year ago)

I started this post many weeks ago... Trying to let go of the imperfect here and posting it.

I'm not the most polished beauty blogger. In fact I have a hard time even calling myself a beauty blogger at all considering how few products I've given detailed review in a large and public way. I started writing about products to keep track of why I liked them or didn't like them. There are some products I have insisted on buying and then tossing in swap, giving away, or throwing away more than one time because I was just sure that this time things would be different. Sometimes people do have a better experience with a second shot because there is a better way to use the product or their skin condition has changed over time.
There are so many cool products out there that I really don't want to spend my time or money on things that I don't enjoy and notes help me to keep track. Reading reviews has helped to guide me through a sea of products to figure out which things to try next. Sometimes a product that I am excited about is a major fail for me and sometimes things that don't get a ton of positive buzz are amazing.
I also often find myself really wanting to love a product if others like it. I think showing the less glowing side can be really helpful. Snow White and The Asian Pear posted this review of a series of products she just found to be lack luster for her and I really appreciated reading a review that was neither ranting not raving about the products inside. She inspired me to break out some of the things I'm less excited about trying or writing about. The Tony Moly I'm Real sheet mask line is a great example. I put on the Tomato mask for radiance today. I really wanted some radiance because I was feeling dull in all sorts of ways. I have products I know will give me that result but I took a leap anyway.
Why don't I just toss the rest of a line if I don't love the first product? My review of the Tony Moly I'm Real Lemon Brightening Mask wasn't all that positive. I keep trying things along a line I know I don't like because I'm searching. I'm searching for a gem in the group and maybe I won't find it.

I'm searching in most areas of my life. So I'll write the reviews for the boring products as well as the exiting ones. I have to admit while I love writing and reading reviews some parts are tedious. The parts I don't like writing are the parts I skim over in reviews that I read but I try to include those parts if I can. I know the parts I like best aren't the only important things to note. I am not a professional and my review aren't the best but they are a chronicle of my time. I spend my time trying new things and trying to weigh my options in skincare and in life.

Darling Clandestine Don't Go Please Stay-more memories in scents

...in so many ways. Inked was my first. Wine. Salt. Skin. It evokes the memory of being very close to another person in just the right way if the person and the moment of course are right. Well knowing this you might picture me with a string of tattooed former lovers but the truth is only one had tattoos and they were nothing to drool over. Mistakes of his youth and poorly done at that. You get what you pay for folks. No you see I'm the one with the tattoos...Inked and I love to drink red wine and well I never much wore perfume before Darling Clandestine came into my life. I wrote my impressions of Don't Go Please Stay when it was a solid tin only way back when. I never expected it to come back. It's special. It's emotional... and... It's back... so I felt obligated to share what I know.

Remember that these versions are years and formats apart. I'm also not really a grand perfume reviewer. I can't pick out top and bottom notes and hints of this and that. I'll give you the story it's comes with and the path it leads me on when I smell it. I hope it can take you on a trip too. I guess it's part of the autumn collection so it is returning on schedule... and shall again.
Here's what the hand discography has to say:
"This is a true “natural” perfume, a slow infusion made with a fantastic cacao absolute, the very finest solvent-extracted, low-atranol oakmoss, crushed juniper berries, cardamom pods, just a tiny bit of ylang-ylang, a pinch of chipotle pepper, and dark vanilla. Think deep, smoky, mossy chocolate gin."
I remember hesitating to order because I just despise gin. Some of my most unpleasant or memories... actually one of the few nights with memory gaps involved gin. An ex boyfriend really enjoyed it and he thought he was oh so fun when he drank it. He was a jerk when he drank it. I was 19 and a monster at all times. If you're reading hi! No gin allowed but it would be a pleasure to see you again one day. I'll always treasure our time trying to kill each other a decade past...
But oh oh deep and mossy chocolate? Cardamom and chipotle pepper? Not just vanilla but "dark vanilla"? Trust me the distinction is IMPORTANT.
Also limited batch just got me. I could destash if I didn't love it but I couldn't just come back for a restock. One time deal man. It's the same this time by the way and if you're reading the count down has started...
You know what else? Infusion made me think of this (probably disturbing to most,) book I read when I was much younger, then to the movie it spawned when I was somewhat less young that was also much less... explicit shall we say? Called well... Perfume.  To make a long story short a man murders young girls and uses them to make perfume. He has a noble goal really. He wants to capture their essence. I won't ruin the ending but success is subjective I think.
Anyway the book taught me what an infusion was because it's one of the method's he used. I'm not much of a perfume person or I wasn't before Inked came into my life so for me an infusion is more... like pepper infused vodka. It's the same concept. Substances take on the flavors or in this case scent of another through extended contact. It's one of the final methods the man found. If you think about it that's also how life works. We are all leaving parts of ourselves and picking up parts of the people and places we encounter everyday. You, and I, and everything is an infusion. While the infusion method may not be the method used for all Darling Clandestine perfumes for me that's the feeling every fragrance brings. Not just a nice smell. Not even always "nice." The smell of life, memories, and stories. Evonne achieved the goal of the main character of that novel and she did it without killing anyone! (as far as I know... their could be thousands of bodies out there with her years of brilliance in her craft... She posts lots of photos of those chickens. Any... pigs?)
The name Don't Go Please Stay clearly refers to the perfume borrowing scents from it's contacts. But it touched me on a deeper level. I've been known to say "everyone you ever love with either leave you or die." and I have a coworker who quotes Boy Meets World and responds "Life sucks get a helmet." I'm uh... not allowed to talk like that at work anymore. Makes people uncomfortable. But I'm a nomad. I have a hard time getting close to people... I'm volatile and in turn tend to mesh best with similarly volatile folks. This perfume was released at a time in my life when I was just so tired of losing people. I cried every day for the loss of the last one. Not another. Don't go. Please stay.  This perfume smells like being warm and close to someone maybe drinking spiked hot chocolate by a fire "celebrating" when you really don't want to say goodbye again. It makes me cry to smell it.
I mean that. Real tears. The tin in the photo is pretty much empty. Infusion perfumes hug closer to the skin. They don't have as much "throw" as people say so I'm not even sure I can really still smell anything when I open it or if the scent is just burned into my brain. I debated if I should get a bottle of it when it brings back such memories. I'll tell you this though... the tin in the photo is tin #2 because I regretted not double dipping enough to track down a second on a forum a month or so after it sold out.
This year's listing reads
"A true “natural” perfume, Don'tGoPleaseStay is a slow infusion made with a fantastic cacao absolute, the very finest oakmoss, juniper berries, cardamom, just a tiny bit of ylang-ylang, a pinch of chipotle pepper, and dark vanilla.
Don'tGoPleaseStay is an original handcrafted fragrance oil by DarlingClandestine. Supply is limited, and it is ONLY available in this 10-mL size. <3"
Note that it doesn't say gin. Juniper berries give that smell. Good call though. That word almost turned me away last time. Kind of like how after all these years I haven't tried Dewlap Valentine because I hate bananas. It's back too. Perhaps it's time to take another chance. I do love a good reptile and green scents.  I'm sure the smell of gin is in the perfume. But skin chemistry is magic and so is scent memory. For me that part is invisible. For those who like gin or just have different bodies it might pull differently. Supply is limited. When Evonne says that she means it... and with something as painstakingly crafted as this even responding to demands of another batch would take a very very long time... that would delay other awesome thing.
Also released today more fragrances AND two of them donate to good causes... (Hey Evonne want to join my push for mental health donations in October for national mental health awareness week?)
The original the first the perfume that started it all... is back today.
Fire Eater
"Too easily shocked, the whole lot of them, always. They repeat what they cannot believe. Always, at a common table with common people. Exasperatingly boring as they puzzle you out and their eyes press around, flickering with derision, with questions and questions and questions.
You prefer the common ground, with uncommon people. Genuinely riveted as you crackle and burst and whirl in a blaze of blood orange and gasoline, and their eyes press around, flickering with delight, with gasps and laughter and roses and applause. Your warm and marvelous friends. They believe in what they cannot repeat.
This edition of Fire Eater is a “culmination blend” that merges the finer points of the odd, hot, gasoline-flare original and the “fizzy grape” edition from two years ago. A portion of the proceeds from Fire Eater will benefit the CeaseFire program detailed at CureViolence.org. This program aims to stop violence in the community by directly intervening in the lives of people at risk. Statistical analysis seems to show that when funding for CeaseFire drops, violent incidents increase. This year, it seems they could really use some help."

Dulcinea
"A hotter and juicier version of the sugar-skull favorite. YEARS ago some of you had occasion to try the heady cordial cherry-frosted sugar skully brew that was Dulcinea, splashed with red wine and dark chocolate and roasted coffee and leather. THIS version, instead of cherry, has twists of mango and tamarind dusted with chile.
A portion of the proceeds from Dulcinea will benefit El Paseo Community Garden, providing education and free fresh produce to Chicago’s Pilsen neighborhood. Follow them here: https://www.facebook.com/ElPaseoGarden/"
I only ever tried the lip balm version of this never the perfume. Seriously it's been a looong time since this came around.
Dewlap Valentine
"A tribute to @hersplendidplumage’s iguana friends, Bob and Eepa. Earthy and sweet and green and reptilian.
The original was bursting with strawberries and greens and an undercurrent of “reptile.” This year’s version dials back the strawberry and cranks up the reptile."
I've always skipped it over banana but after Popcreme and Jeweled Orange I'm  thinking maybe... plus dialed down strawberry and cranked up reptile hits ALL the right buttons.
and finally...
Hotel Clandestine Travel Set
"Confession: I love the upscale, spa-fresh commercial fragrances that hotel franchises choose for their complimentary travel-sized lotions and conditioners. They’re often intense and invigorating and stick with you throughout the day.
And whether you’ve booked an extravagant getaway in a five-star luxury suite, or you’ve managed to snatch a few moments in the bathtub in your hotel room during a business trip, or if, in the blackest of night, on the loneliest of highways, road-weary, you round an exit and are lured by the VACANCY glow of a dubious establishment . . . that fragrance, even though it’s probably manufactured by big industry and used interchangeably in an assortment of obscure products, that fragrance in those little bottles adheres to the inner walls of your skull and becomes the vessel for that experience. When you were traveling, transitioning, discovering, deciding, passing a figurative milestone, passing through.
So what if *I* made the scent in your skull, huh? How ‘bout THAT?
This lotion and conditioner comes scented with my newest fragrance blend, simply called Hotel Clandestine. It’s my own version of spa-fresh invigorating, with highlights of ruby red grapefruit and currant and bright garden herbs, with just enough can’t-put-my-finger on it dark nostalgia to make it DarlingClandestine. It's REALLY GOOD, dude.
This listing is for a “hotel-sized” package that includes a 1-ounce bottle of lotion, a 1-ounce bottle of conditioner, and a 1-dram Bitsy vial of Hotel Clandestine fragrance oil. The lotion and conditioner bottles are squeezable plastic with a handy little flip-top cap. This is a trial to gauge interest in the lotion and conditioner formulas---which I may offer in other fragrances in the future---and also to let you sample the new fragrance at a little discount. Just want to try the fragrance for now? You can choose "Bitsy vial only" for $8.
Now, about the lotion and conditioner bases. They are *not* my own from-scratch formulation. I don’t like to take chances when it comes to preservative balance in organic water-based formulas, so I start with a tried-and-true base from an independent organics company. The result is ultra-thick and fabulous, with aloe and olive oil and babassu.
A customer recently asked about the vegan-friendliness of the formulas. I swear to you, when I began researching these formulas I specifically went for vegan-friendliness! But it does appear that the "silk protein" in the conditioner may in fact be silk-derived. If you're vegan and want the cute little HC set, I'm offering the option to get two lotions instead of one lotion and one conditioner. (And the Bitsy as well, of course.) Select "Veggiesaurus" from the dropdown menu. ;) "
Yeah a new fragrance and a chance to test two new product formats. I scoff and say I would rather have Balm for Live Bodies but really anyway to get more Darling Clandestine scented products and less things that smell like a candle or candy shop and you can count me in. A conditioner I haven't tried already guaranteed not to smell like a migraine coming for me is a plus. I need conditioner like a hole in my head and I just had a cell phone unexpectedly need replacing so I'm probably skipping this one but... You shouldn't. You really shouldn't.  Darling Clandestine products are like an addictive substance. If you hate them someone else will want them. I've been on both sides of that fence and I don't joke. I mean don't spend your grocery money or whatever but if you've got the dough and the only thing holding you back is uncertainty... Taking chances is one of the best parts of life. Darling Clandestine has brought me and brought me back to some of the best leaps of faith in my life.
Repeating myself from yesterday. I am a broken record.

Manyo Factory Active Refresh Herb Special Treatment Oil

Manyo Factory Active Refresh Herb Special Treatment Oil
Image credit Manyo Factory.... see watermark?
OK so in my review of the Active Refresh Herb Mask I mentioned that I should try it layered with this underneath. Oh and that I really needed to post this review. Yeah I owned this before that mask was available for sale I think... Anyway now that I've used the sheet mask and wash off pack I can give an even better updated (not that you saw the orignal,) review of ways this oil can be used. Are you excited? Well if you aren't that's not my problem. Let's go.

What is it?

"The Active Refresh Herb Oil helps calm and soothe your skin!
  • Reduce acne and dry, red skin with Tea Tree
  • Help heal damaged skin with Tamanu and Eucalyptus Oils
  • 7 kinds of calming and soothing oils like Patchouli, Sage and Juniper
Made parabens Without, artificial dyes, fragrance, or mineral oil. " -melodycosme.com

How do you use it?

"DirectionsApply over affected areas after cleansing and toning your skin.Volume  15 ml"
 -melodycosme.com
Well 15ml doesn't sound like a lot... but it is... As for affected areas? I'm thinking spot treatment. But it've also found it great to mix a few drops together with another facial oil or hydrating toner layer before a sheet mask to boost it's healing powers. Yeah I don't think the directions really do it justice.

Manyo Factory Active Refresh Herb Special Treatment Oil
My bottle doesn't have the same glow as the promotional image.
I'm not even a little disappointed. It's really cute.
Manyo Factory Active Refresh Herb Special Treatment Oil
Basic Details are right on the box!

What's in it?

Ingredients are also on the box but bot in English. Thankfully the website lists them translated. Sorry google translate but... so far you and I haven't worked together so well.

This product contains: Squalane, Isoamyl Laurate, Tea Tree Leaf Oil, Shea seed oil, Meadowfoam Seed Oil, Evening Primrose Oil, Olive Oil, Eucalyptus Leaf Oil, Rosemary Leaf Oil, Sage Oil, Tocopherol, Tamanu Oil
Note:
"The product DOES NOT contain synthetic components, triethanolamine, parabens, propylene glycol, animal derived materials."-manyofactory

Squalane sometimes does come from animals... I just thought people would want to know.

And then COSDNA is here to make me giggle. It flags a lot of the ingredients in an acne spot treatment as acne triggers. Squalane surprises me every single time man. Anyway it's a short list so if you are sensitive to anything on it you know what to do.

How did it work out for me? (now uh... a little longer term...)

Well this is just really complicated. How does it work for me? Really well. It's possibly the best blemish treating formula I've ever used. The issue? Man this is coming up a lot lately... now I know how my ex feels. The size is a problem for me. I don't really get many blemishes so using 15ml in the six months after opening is impossible.

Granted it isn't only good for blemishes. Under the Active Refresh Herb Mask I as a sort of booster oil (diluted,) It amplifies the calming power if my face is just sort of well... as stressed as I am. Like maybe as stress related breakout could happen because the skin is vulnerable and the mask helps stop that from happening. Does anyone else feel that? With other things too... You know something just feels off and then the problem pops up? I get blemishes infrquently enough to know when to pretreat.

3.5/5.... Actually it's great. And honestly for most people 15ml is perfect. It sounds tiny but a little goes a long way. I just use this kind of product so infrequently that it's not practical for me to keep around. I couldn't use 5ml within 6 months after opening. BUT kind of like the wash off packs if I can find homes for the remainder of the bottle... or find someone who has a bottle who will sell me a tiny portion... It goes up in points. As a person with few blemishes it just isn't practical for me to keep on hand.

1- I want both my money and the time I spent using this product back. It should never be used and if I encounter another in my collection it goes to the trash bin.

So now you know what the numbers mean!

Functional Accessories... or why my cat ears are about more than being cute...

I wear a lot of headbands with giant bows and cat ears. I know they look silly and honestly I'm a little old for the "cute" look but I'm not stopping. I decided the tell the tale of my headband use...

I've always hated putting things on my head and around my neck. I don't even like crew neck shirts and I will never wear a turtle neck again. As a kid I wouldn't wear a hat or scarf no matter how cold the weather was or how hard the wind was blowing. This greatly frustrated my mother because people (my school, other parents, etc) would always ask her why she wasn't properly dressing her child for winter. She turned to fleece headbands as a solution. I never felt as restricted by a headband. Granted once I hit my teen years I ditched those too. I'm glad I at least listened to her about sunscreen...
When I was 21 I bleached my hair blonde. It was a bad choice. I did it myself. That was an even worse choice. I also have OCD. Recipe for disaster much? I imagined that the color was not even. Looking at pictures my then boyfriend took of my hair... they weren't visible. But I was sure man... So I bleached my hair over and over trying to get the darker patches out. I did not wait in between bleaching. My waist long hair was destroyed and my scalp was burned. My scalp still is not the same. I'm almost 28 and my hair still doesn't hit my hip bones again.  Patches of my hair fell out entirely. My cousin was a hairstylist and I lived near him at the time. He managed to shape the frayed remainder of what was once hair into something that looked passable when styled. It took around 3 years before my hair grew out enough that I was willing to cut off the frayed ends. My hair ended up chin length.
The gym was an issue. The little patches of bald spots started growing out and I had chunks of hair (one right on my hairline on my forehead  covered by thick bangs...) that stood straight up when my hair wasn't styled. Hair spray and the gym don't mix. So what did I do? I used headbands. My search for quality functioning products wasn't only in the skin care area. I discovered that headbands that cost a little more really did work better. A friend turned me on to Lululemon headbands and honestly they didn't slip as much. I wore them backwards refusing to display the logo.  Twice now headbands have come to my rescue. Now that my hair has grown out to one length I just stick to a ponytail. The headbands helped absorb sweat and when I occasionally slap one on they still increase the comfort of my workouts. But I'm lazy...
So for years I dealt with the annoyance of getting my skincare into my hairline. Pulling my hair back with a headband or a turban towel solved the problem but you know what? It was the same as the headbands of my youth to protect from the snow and my workout accessories of my early twenties. I just am not willing to put in the effort to keep track of an accessory even if having it makes my life easier.  Enter Etude House Lovely Etti Cat Ears...

I'm a cat lady. My "older brother" was a cat. My parents got a cat and I'm pretty sure he was the experiment child. He lived to be 19 and that means he was my best (often only,) friend for the first 17 years of my life. My great aunt Margaret was sort of a cat lady. She would never turn away strays when people dumped them on her property. I say dumped because its a little hard for that many cats to just wander on to 36 acres of property. The cats were split into "barn cats" the feral cats that would not come inside and the more affectionate cats that would. Even her semi indoor cats often were not friendly enough to let anyone but her pet them. I remember trying to win  the affections of one of the shy cats.
So those ears... I had to have them. When I actually got them though I was surprised. They weren't just a cute accessory. The band actually was pretty high quality. My head didn't feel pinched and the headband stayed in place really well. I got them to add more cuteness because honestly most sheet masks aren't pretty but as you can see above I don't even bother catching the ears in my photo from most of the time. I quickly realized that I needed more than one. I mean the band touches my hair and I wanted to make sure the thing I was putting my head was clean. Then came the the bows.

Cupiddrop.com advertised a free bow headband on Instagram with purchases over $100. I desperately wanted one. I whined on Instagram that they should sell the bows in case people liked them and wanted to collect all the colors. They actually responded! They had gotten this from a lot of people. Should they sell them? Well now they do! Since then I've found cute headbands lots of places. A friend of mine purchased some multi colored cat ears for me from Amazon after a saw a post on reddit about them. I did a photoshoot modeling them all. They are cute but not quite as nice as the Etude house Ears.
I got them in pursuit of vanity. Drawn by the cuteness... But it turns out that they work for me. Acquiring different "looks" helped me have enough variety that I don't have to worry about running out of clean head wear. I hand wash and air dry them so that's a good thing. Still though sometimes my laziness wins. I occasionally pick out a headband to correspond with the packaging of my chosen mask (I know the vanity!) I sometimes set the headbands aside in weird places or I might just be in a a rush and then I skip the headband. You know what happens every time? Regret man.

Above is an example of two wash off packs and two sheet masks I skipped the headband to use. Guess what? One of each was a winner and one was a failure... But you know what I noticed each time? I wished I had thrown on a headband. As much as I like the Elizavecca mask it stuck in my hairline as much as the Tony Moly Mask from Hell.  I really hated the Dr. 119 mask and even wrote post devoted to how much that line sucked. The Tosowoong mask was refreshing but I was still annoyed by the wisps of hair trapped under the sheet.
I bought them because they were cute. I admit that fully. I could use a plain headband especially since I have a collection from the times I was using them regularly at the gym. The odd thing is that I wasn't motivated enough to actually put in the effort regularly until I was trying to look cute. It was the Kangsi Pack that sparked this line of thought (review in progress,) but since I took the photos for my post I've skipped the head band on and off and this time the thoughts stuck. Cute as they may be they preform a function and the way they look motivates me enough to actually use them. Weird right?
Do you have any weird things that "trick" you into doing something you normally won't put in the effort to use? Know of any more cute headbands I can put on my wishlist? Let me know in the comments.

Manyo Factory Galactomyces 10X Wrap Mask the review that made my world

Manyo Factory Galactomyces 10X Wrap Mask
update: 8/18 new places to buy, better ingredient translation, still a top mask
I'm always tempted to try hydrogel style masks because they seem so cool but if you read over my reviews you'll notice I usually end up slamming their minor flaws because well... if they are going to cost that much I want them to be amazing. The Manyo Factory Galactomycyces 10x Wrap (referred to reform here on as Manyo Mask for the sake of sanity,) is one of the masks that changed my mind. It's actually tied for favorite hydrogel ever and the only reason for the tie is that I like both brands for different reasons. Today I'm going to focus on the Manyo Mask, Why I love it, Why  you might love it too, and all that great stuff.

Manyo Factory Galactomyces 10X Wrap Mask
This mask first came to me as a freebie in an order I placed. The packaging is simple. I like brightening masks but after some disappointing hydro gel and fancy brightening mask experiences I was really ready to just stick with my Beauty Diary and My Scheming to brighten. I had found one hydrogel love (reviews coming I swear!) That made this mask low priority.

The back doesn't have an English. I totally understand it is not an American product but being able to easily scan the list right from the package helps me find things that peak my interest. I ended up trying this mask on a whim because I had it on hand. I expected nothing. I have never been so glad to be wrong.
Ingredients: um... google translate gave me this...Galactosidase Mrs. (probably Galacotmyces)  fermentation filtrate, aloe vera leaf extract, Witch Hazel Extract, Chamomile kkotsu, cypress, number of plum, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, Carrageenan, birds (algae according to CODSNA) oligosaccharides, sodium hyaluronidase as Nate (I don't know), kaereop bean gum (possible Ceratonia Siliqua Gum), rosemary leaves extract, gold extract, mung bean extract, jojoba seed oil, Centella asiatica extract, guar gum, xanthan gum, chamomile flower extract, licorice extract, green tea extract, No. muscle extract (again no idea), lavender oil, 1,2-hexane diol, potassium chloride, glucose, second linden fruit extract, pasqueflower extract, ground near extract, caprylic hydroxyl samik acid, caprylic rilgeul glycol, glyceryl Leela right rate, wormwood extract, Houttuynia cordata extract, citrus extract, Trojan polron, oregano leaf extract, perilla oil, eucalyptus leaf oil

UPDATE: I left my orginal google translate because it's funny but I now have a real translation.
Galactomyces ferment filtrate, aloe Vera leaf extract, witch hazel extract, chamomile extract, Cypress extract, plum water, butylene glycol, glycerin, carrageenan, bird and company, sodium Hyaluronate, carob Kong gum, rosemary leaf extract, gold extract, green beans extract, jojoba seed oil, Centella asiatica extract, guar gum, grass charcoal gum, chamomile flower extract, licorice extract, green tea extract, reynoutria extract, lavender oil, 1,2-hexane diol, potassium chloride, glucose, Fruit Extract, pasqueflower extract, Usnea extract, Caprylic your guide to our dynamic disorder seed, Caprylic take glycol, glyceryl take you, mugwort extract, Houttuynia cordata extract, citron extract, Apollon, oregano leaf extract, Perilla oil, eucalyptus leaf oil.
So here's what COSDNA The flags were chamomile, Butylene glycol, and Jojoba seed oil.
Things I found exciting:
  • Galactomyces Ferment Filtrate
  • Licorice Root extract
  • green tea extract
  • perilla oil
  • Jojoba seed oil (hey its a trigger for some but my skin likes it!
Purpose: To hydrate, smooth, and even skin tone.
How to use?
I loved this one enough for step by step pictures.
Manyo Factory Galactomyces 10X Wrap Mask
just the top half

First you take it out of the package. Be gentle because it is a thin gel mask but rest assured that it's pretty strong. As long as you aren't ripping it out of the package you should be fine. I am a notorious mask ripper and I've only torn one of the (uh... possibly almost 20 or so,) of these masks that I have used. Then you put it on!
Apply the top first like in this photo. See how smooth it is on my face. Say Ohhh and Ahh everyone!
Manyo Factory Galactomyces 10X Wrap Mask

Then add the bottom half. Here you can see the mask freshly applied.
See how thin it looks? It's almost invisible aside from the few folds of excess! The pattern you see is actually an imprint from the plastic backing. There is no weird mesh inside like some hydrogel masks that make them itchy as they dry. This is 100% soft smooth goo!

Manyo Factory Galactomyces 10X Wrap Mask

This is the mask around 45 minutes in. You can see that it's easily staying on my face and still has some life left in it.
My Rating: 5/5 Have already repurchased and I'm sad to be out. Never want to be without these on hand. I like them for relaxing at night and giving a next day glow, or even in the morning to prep for makeup and drying sunscreen on extra dry days. LOVE!
1- I want both my money and the time I spent using this product back. It should never be used and if I encounter another in my collection it goes to the trash bin.
So now you know what the numbers mean!
