Better late than Never..Klavuu Cleanser and Mochi Beauté

Klavuu Pure Pearlsation Revitalizing Cleansing Foam
I'm going to start this post by declaring that I received this product in exchange for my honest review. Then I'm going to tell you it was actually offered to me when I was looking to buy it anyway. You see I had hit a sort of excitement rut and also felt like all the brands and stores I was excited about felt a little like a broken record. I don't handle compliments well and I also feel like hiding in a corner after writing an especially gushing review. Too many about the same company and I feel like a shill even though I'm not but hey... If any of the brands/companies I love does ever start hiring in my area paying a living wage sign me up man!

I am part of a group on Facebook and I have bought and sold things there in the past and I was already getting something from a woman who I knew from previous experience had similar (and in my opinion excellent,) taste to my own. She also has a large collection so I thought she might have something interesting to toss in with what I was getting. She suggested Klavuu. I needed another cleanser and toner as much as a hole in my head. I was at that point testing the Thank You Farmer Miracle Age Repair Toner and awaiting another toner I had planned on as my birthday gift to myself for months in advance. Cleansers... Oh how many of those do I have? How far behind on posts? But then I started reading than the toner was a creamy type toner. Sort of like a creamy essence mask if you will allow the comparison... I will get into that in more detail in another post. Anyway I suddenly needed this toner in my life. Just enough to test... and then she said the words "I'll send you the cleanser for free if you review it. I forgot that I need to do that." I was confused. I thought maybe she was supposed to review it and wanted me to write it for her? Bad idea because my writing style is not so highly requested.  But no! She was opening a shop! The cleanser was actually totally unopened and all I had to do was try it out. Well I can tell you I am both pleased and disappointed by my experience. Confused?

That's OK I'm weird. I'll let the product description from the shop... Mochi Beauté help me explain.

"Klavuu cleansing foam turns creamy when met with water and provides 4 in 1 function.
It takes care of removing the makeup and residues as well as dried skin and brightening your skin!
Klavuu's Pearlsation revitalizing facial cleansing foam will bring clean and clear skin back to you. Its standout ingredients include: Pearl Extract, Laminaria Japonica Extract, Spirulina Platensis Extract and Squalene."

OK first of all I love when standout ingredients AND a full ingredient list are posted on a listing for an item. Mochi Beauté was not yet open when I agreed to test the cleanser so this wasn't there... this is really a point in favor of the shop more than the product but anyway... I love squalene, I like pearl masks... I eat... this could be good right? I mean it sounds good. 4 in 1 is a steeeep claim for a cleanser to be making though man. Steep. Can it remove makeup alone? Brighten my skin? Well do I really care about that if it's lovely otherwise? Probably not... Now if you thought the spotlight was exciting get ready for the full list.

Just look at all the types of algae in there. And I know I know all the way at the end but... Shea butter and ceramide in my cleanser?

I know Folks love COSDNA so Myristic acidLauric Acid,Stearic Acid, and Red Algae are the biggest flags.

I don't personally pay attention to COSDNA so much as my own skin. So read the list over, test one new product at a time. Be careful. Behave. Don't dive in head first. Face first if you will... to too many things so you know what works and what doesn't. I'm super lucky because none of those things bother my skin.

Klavuu Pure Pearlsation Revitalizing Cleansing Foam
Check out that elegant tube. I'm a sucker for packaging sometimes. Classic and simple or ultra cute. Nothing in between.

So how do I use this mystical product?
The cleansing foam changes to a creamy type when it gets wet. Gently draw a circle on your face with your hands and massage it.
The foam will reach deep down in your pores to clean out all the dirt and makeup to give you bright beautiful skin."

I don't always copy the directions word for word from a page but here see the word creamy caught my eye. Again I roll my eyes that a cleanser alone is going to give me beautiful skin but creamy creamy creamy... I need it... oh wait... I have it and I'm writing a review. You need it.  If you like creamy things.

So how did it go?

I'll start with the claims I called highly unrealistic I think since after all this cleanser sets a high bar.

Does it remove makeup? Well not mine. I wouldn't use this as my sole first and second cleanser. But I wear waterproof makeup if I'm wearing it and waterproof sunscreen if I'm outside more than fifteen minutes. The cleanser does not specifically claim to remove waterproof products. Other products that do make that claim don't do the job as well as this one does so I'm actually not taking off points here. For a layer of light BB cushion and the kind of eyeshadow someone who doesn't decorate themselves like I would wear this might suffice. I think it might be wasteful to use it that way but it is a 130ml tube...

Did it brighten my skin? I use a lot of brightening products so this one is hard to gauge for me too... wow this cleanser sure is tricky!  What I can say is that my face isn't red after rinsing when I use this cleanser. For most people that just means they finally stopped using scalding water or an ultra high PH cleanser. In my case though pretty much everything makes my skin flush. Cleansing does it with almost every product so this is rare. I am officially impressed.

How does it feel overall?

It's just really amazing. That creamy part in the description and the reason it's supposed to remove makeup without stripping? I'm pretty sure it's emulsifying. It's like those oil to foam cleansers except it's on another level of luxury. It's like washing your face with a cloud (if I cloud in reality felt the way it looks,) that turns into a light yet rich moisturizer that melts into your skin. Then it rinses clean without leaving a film or stripping. It's great.

But wait! I said I was disappointed early on remember? I guess I need to explain. You see there are so many low PH cleansers and I don't have sensitivities to worry about... I don't have a lot to look forward to sometimes so I need some things to make my day feel special. People say "take a relaxing bath." Well I'm in California where we have a draught and I rent a room in a house with housemates so that's not an option. I need something for special occasions. This is the perfect cleanser for that. To pull out when I'm not testing anything at the moment and just enjoy...

Here's the issue...
Klavuu Pure Pearlsation Revitalizing Cleansing Foam
It's huge!

In most cases 130ml is great for value. The fact that it's good 12 months from opening you would think I could use it up in that time but guys a little goes a long way. I only use a cleanser at night. In my two weeks of daily use I didn't use up even 10ml yet (I measured it out in advance.) mini tubes do not exist. I pout.

Thankfully I have a solution. Though an odd one. Mochi Beauté stocks this and ships quickly. I will destash and repurchase this cleanser in cycles to avoid waste and keep it as my special occasion cleanser. If your skin needs pampering daily go for it! I just personally need to have things set aside to perk myself up a little. If I didn't want to keep this from becoming "just a part of my day" I would probably stop my hunt for cleansers right here.

Final Rating?

I'll give this a 4.5/5 because I want the company to make mini sizes to appease my personal whims. Fair? No. Sue me.
