Moving the first post I ever made public on the old blog. Tony Moly I'm Real Lemon Brightening Mask

And spoiler Alert! I felt that in this case the mask was a total lemon. What a way to start posting a blog... I am the queen of sunshine. I guess this is kind of how my blog became so heavily sheet mask themed. That's uh... changing. I still have a lot of sheet masks to talk about but there's so much more that I want to share. I hope someone finds it interesting. Anyway here's my attempt at showing my unhappy face to the world for the first time. I made a few updates for fun.

The Tony Moly I'm Real Lemon Brightening Mask initially excited me because I love sheet masks and lemons. Then I put it on my face.
This mask was not given to me in exchange for review. It was either purchased or included as a free sample in an order or exchange.
Rants and Ramblings
I promised to start this public blog review deal off with a blue lipstick comparison swatch post. Well... getting the whole four hours and a meal in isn't easy  when trying to catch daylight AND working all the time. So I have pictures of the before for all 3 and the after for two but one of them comes off so fast that I can't get a decent after photo.
Anyway sheet masks are easy to review so I'm starting here. I am an admitted sheet mask addict. I have no idea how many I own and I have a pretty serious amazon wishlist (you can use it to link to products not an Amazon too in case you didn't know that,) so my collection sort of fluctuates a ton. I use at least one every day. At this point I have never been gifted one for review purposes by a company so this was purchased. I'm just to really sure where I got it myself.
Tony Moly is a Korean Company known mostly for adorable packing. I find their products to be hit or miss. I either love or hate them.
What is this thing?
After Tony Moly I'm Real Lemon Whitening Sheet Mask
This is a sheet mask basically just a piece of soft material soaked in an essence. The Lemon Brightening mask is part of the I'm Real line containing 11 masks that contain either a milky essence or an emulsion. This mask is a lighter emulsion. The mask is meant to "brighten" the face and when a mask does this well skin is given a temporary healthy glow. I love my Tony Moly Pocket Bunny mist and I always want to glow so I decided to give this mask a shot.
There are only two low level red flags in the ingredient list. Butylene Glycol is a potential acne trigger so you should avoid this mask if you are sensitive Butylene Glycol or if you are especially acne prone. I am not so this product was a go for me. The second red flag is Carbomer an emulsifier that can be a potential irritant. My skin can be sensitive but an emulsifier is just used to allow oil to mix with water making it a low level concern for me as well. I love emulsifiers! The mask contains real lemon extract and artificial fragrance.
I tried it out
See I could use some brightening right? Here is my face freshly cleansed.

Tony Moly I'm Real Lemon Whitening Sheet Mask
There was plenty of essence in the package and I covered my face in some of the excess before applying the mask. The fit isn't exactly my dream fit but it was not difficult to apply. I'll let you see how it looks on my face.
Please note that my face is very asymmetrical so the mask can not be blamed for all imperfections. The black spot on my forehead is a chia seed from a huge spill I cleaned up in between washing my face and applying the mask. I didn't notice it until much later. Oops. I also left part of the nose flap folded up because I found the excessive material made breathing through my nose irritating. I will break out the scissors for my next Tony Moly mask adventure.
How did it go?
The mask stayed damp with for the 50 minutes I left it on. Masks usually advise wearing for 20-30 minutes but if I have the time I want the maximum benefits so I wait till the mask is totally dry. I took it off before it was dry because despite the dampness of the mask my face started to feel dry. I didn't feel ask though I was soaking in any beneficial ingredients. I don't normally wash off my sheet masks but I made an exception here. Let's look at the after to see if the minor discomfort was worth it.

I'll concede that my face appear slightly brighter but I have gotten much better results with no discomfort from other products. I have read plenty of positive reviews from others who did enjoy this mask but it is not for me. My rating for this mask is 2/5.
Rating Scale:
1- I want both my money and the time I spent using this product back. It should never be used and if I encounter another in my collection it goes to the trash bin.
2- The product is nothing special but not horrible. I would use it again or give it away if I got it as a free sample.
3-The product is nice enough but I would not repurchase because I have many better options. May be better suited for others
4-I really like this and would likely repurchase if I do not find something better.
5-I love this product and it has become a staple in my collection.
If you want to give this product a shot you can find it lot of places.
This mask is also available on eBay from a variety of sellers. I'm not sure where I got it but I really hope I didn't pay $3.75 and I'm glad I don't have two.

When I posted this on August 31 2015 I did not know that the Tony Moly Mushrooms would exist and become the loves of my life. I tried and reviewed all three! I also reviewed and was disappointed by a Tony Moly Dry Shampoo... and owe some Kudos to the Tony Moly Goat Milk Whitening line... Tony Moly man. It's always love or hate. Never in between. So I always just roll the dice. Oh! And the Cat Wink Chu Pact is still the best setting powder ever. It's cheap and it comes in a package shaped like a cat for under $10. I've used fancy stuff... The cat just keeps coming back for three years now.

I do not recommend these but I'm heard some people like them. If you do want to try them please don't buy them from Ulta or Sephora. Don't buy them as singles. Buy them as cheaply as you can.

right now on Amazon* all 11 can be had for under $10 I think that might actually be worth it for the humor of how angry these made me. I wish I had been that intelligent at the time. I'll tell myself the were not for sale then.

If you are one of these people who likes these masks I am happy for you. I do not mean to insult your taste. YMMV. I'm sure you hate some of the things I love. I just really really really don't love these man...
